Khyeese

After navigating through a divorce, Khyeese found herself as a single mother of three and forced to manage a household on a limited income, often depending on assistance programs like SNAP to make ends meet. Fumbling through on her own, she felt overwhelmed and ill-prepared for her reality, but all along, she desired to take control of her finances and create a future of generational wealth and stability for her children.

It was during this period that she was introduced to CMCA. She enrolled with the Financial Opportunity Center® program and began working with Jamie Wallingford, her financial coach. Jamie and Khy worked to create a budget specifically focused on cutting expenses in order to save and invest in her family’s future. Motivated by a desire to help her son pay for college and to support her aging parents, Khy got to work and was able to get control of her finances, reigniting her belief in herself to overcome challenges.

“I had once considered filing for bankruptcy,” she says. “But with prayer and determination, I chose to fight for my financial recovery instead.”

She began her own non-profit, serving those in need in her local community and across the country. In order to better lead her business, Khy enrolled in the Missouri Women’s Business Center’s Kauffman FastTrac Business Academy, where she is gathering the tools and resources she needs to run a successful business.
