Kimberly

Kimberly Price is a grandmother who is raising her grandson. Her grandson is her world, and this shows in the pride she takes in telling me all about his accomplishments. Kimberly has been a part of CMCA in various ways throughout the years. I met her a few years ago as a walk-in at the Cole resource office. She carried this wonderful and positive aura, and I thought this lady needs to be in our getting ahead classes. Long story short, she attended Getting Ahead classes and rarely missed even through transportation difficulties. She always participated and shared ideas. I learned from her as she learned from getting ahead. She opened my eyes and helped me to grow as a coach. Kimberly graduated from that class and never stopped staying in contact. I would see her come into the office, or she would send messages just checking in. Kimberley had some big obstacles throughout the years, but always remained persistent and positive. She went from being housed to being unhoused and staying with family. She always remained hopeful and constantly stayed in communication. With MHDC funds, CMCA was able to help her become housed in her own apartment for her and her grandson. It took her a great deal of time to find a landlord willing to work with CMCA, MHDC, and herself. When she finally found an amazing rental/mortgage company that worked with us with no judgment towards her, she finally felt like things were falling into place. A relief of stress and worry was lifted, and she always remained positive. She invited me over once she got settled, and this apartment shone with love, safety, and feelings of home. She also enrolled in FOC and has set goals to save for rental costs when she begins paying rent in 2025. She is already working towards this goal.  She has been able to take a dive into her credit and make a budget so that she can reach her housing goals. Kim is the rock star in her own story, and she has some of the most determination and dedication to meet her goals.
